Backup

A backup is a snapshot of the site's files and database from a given moment. It is the cheapest insurance policy online: when something goes wrong, a failure, an infection, a botched update, it lets you restore a working version.

It is important that backups are regular, automatic and stored off the site's server (because a backup on the same server dies with it). A well-made backup turns a disaster into a brief inconvenience.
