Phishing

Phishing is a scam that impersonates a well-known institution (a bank, a courier, a service provider) in an email or on a fake page, to get the victim to enter login details or a card number.

Hacked websites are sometimes used to host such fake pages without the owner's knowledge, which risks the domain being added to Google's warning lists and losing its reputation. That is why an infection must be removed quickly.
